Fractional Operating Practice

Build what's next.
Fix what's stuck.

We step into owner-led companies that have outrun the owner's bandwidth. Maybe there's a new opportunity you can't step away to build — or a business that's stalled and needs fixing. We come in as a partner, diagnose what actually needs to happen, build or fix it, and hand it back stronger. The mission has a defined arc; the relationship stays open for the next question, decision, or opportunity.

Who we work with

Owner-led businesses at a crossroads.

You've run out of hours before you ran out of ambition. Hiring a full-time executive is slow and permanent; a strategy consultant hands you a deck and leaves. You need a senior operator who can help decide what matters, do the work, build the system, and then step back without disappearing. Two situations, one practice:

Build what's next

You've spotted an opportunity

A new market, product line, or venture is right in front of you — but you can't step out of the day-to-day to go build it. We shape the plan, stand up the systems, and execute it into something real, then hand it back running.

Fix what's stuck

A business has stalled

Drifting, between operators, or carrying a function that's broken or missing. We find the real constraint, fix it with big-company rigor, and put in the systems that keep it fixed long after we leave.

Why we're different

Big-company discipline for what's next — and what's stuck.

Our approach was shaped over nearly two decades inside Thomson Reuters — where the job was never only to fix what was broken. Just as often it meant spotting the next opportunity and building it from scratch: a new market, a new product line, a new business, planned and executed end to end. That's the rarer, more valuable skill — and it's the one we lead with.

It runs on the same discipline large organizations use to work through anything hard: trace the root cause, build the system, measure what matters, make it repeatable. So when a business is stuck, we fix it with that same rigor. Most small and mid-sized companies never get access to either mode. Launching the .inc domain to $8M in recurring revenue was build mode; turning a $200K quarterly loss into profit in a single quarter was fix mode. Same muscle, pointed where you need it.

Opportunities, builtWe spot the next move and stand it up — a new market, product, or venture, planned and executed.
Problems, solvedWe trace the real constraint and fix it with big-company rigor, not a surface patch.
Systems that outlast usThe processes, data, and tooling a business keeps running long after we hand it back.
How we work

A clear mission, a durable handoff.

1

Diagnose

A paid 30-day diagnostic: a full read of the opportunity or the problem, a working tool built where it earns its place, and a straight written assessment with a go/no-go. You know exactly what you're dealing with before committing to more.

2

Build or fix

We step in and execute — standing up the new opportunity or rebuilding the broken function, shipping the dashboards and data tools your competitors don't have, and moving the number that matters. Senior operator judgment plus the infrastructure that makes it real.

3

Hand off

We document it, train your people to run it, and hand it back stronger. The engagement has a defined arc — and you keep a direct line back to us for the next question, decision, or opportunity.

The edge

Strategy plus working tools — not recommendations about tools.

Most fractional operators bring frameworks. We bring frameworks and build the data infrastructure alongside them, in weeks, because modern tooling lets a senior team ship what used to take a department.

Track record

Outcomes, not slideware.

The experience behind the practice — the same instinct, whether the job was to build something new or fix something broken, across very different industries.

$8M ARR
Launched the .inc top-level domain to $8M in annual recurring revenue as Managing Director at Intercap Registry.
Sold
Co-founded and ran Echelon Gran Fondo — 10 events, 7,000+ riders, $1.3M raised for charity — through to acquisition.
3 months
Took Hitchsource from a $200K quarterly loss to profitable in one quarter; tripled average order value.
Our job is to build or fix the thing, put in the system that keeps it running, and leave you stronger than we found you. The mission has an end; the relationship doesn't — you keep a direct line back for whatever comes next.
